Code of Conduct

These guidelines have been produced to advise all members of the standards expected of members of Chung Do Kwan and should be followed at all times.

1. Behaviour

During training sessions or competitions players should avoid actions which may bring the Chung Do Kwan or sport into disrepute. Players also have a responsibility to report any member whose conduct is likely to bring the Chung Do Kwan or sport into disrepute.

Players should:

i. Abide by the Chung Do Kwan Constitution and rules of the sport, and uphold high standards of fair play and sportsmanship.

ii. Respect the rights and dignity and worth of all, and treat everyone with equality.

iii. Show respect and never overtly criticise officials or helpers.

iv. Have due regard for their personal appearance, language, and respect equipment and facilities.

2. Safety

i. Players should always partake in appropriate warm-up and cool-down as advised by a coach of Chung Do Kwan in order to prepare the body for exercise and to prevent injury.

ii. Always ensure safety guidelines issued by Chung Do Kwan coaches are upheld when using equipment and protective gear.

iii. Players should report any discrepancies in equipment or facilities to a Chung Do Kwan coach or helper in order to protect themselves and others e.g. in the event of finding glass on the training area.

iv. Players should avoid wearing rings and jewellery or anything else that would be a danger to themselves and others.

3. Injury or Illness

i. Players should inform an official or instructor of any illness before, during or after an activity whether it is to themselves or others. Players should never be afraid to stop an activity if they are feeling unwell or unable to continue.

ii. Players should avoid any type of training when injured unless advised otherwise by qualified personnel.

4. Supplementation

i. Players should never take any prohibited substances (a list is available from the Executive Committee) NB If in doubt do not take the substance!

ii. Players are advised not to experiment with ergogenic aids/foodstuffs without prior consultation with an instructor of the Chung Do Kwan.

5. Club Subscriptions

i. Players are requested to pay all Chung Do Kwan subscriptions before the closing date advised by the Treasurer. This will ensure they are registered with Chung Do Kwan and therefore eligible to compete.

ii. Players who fail to pay their Chung Do Kwan subscriptions will be subject to the disciplinary procedures of the Constitution.

7. Younger Players

i. Players should ensure that their parents know where they are at all times and what time training commences/ends.

ii. Players should be aware that there is a member responsible for dealing with child affairs that should be consulted as and when necessary.

iii. Players should try to ensure they arrive punctually for training sessions, and inform your instructor if they are going to miss training.

8. Guidelines for Parents of Younger Players

i. Parents should always collect younger players on time or inform the Chung Do Kwan instructors/officials if they are unable to do so.

ii. If a concern is raised about any of the Chung Do Kwan activities the Chung Do Kwan officials should be informed as soon as possible.

iii. Coaching sessions outside the usual recognised Chung Do Kwan sessions will not be subject to Chung Do Kwan insurance if the details have not been notified in writing to the Executive Committee in advance. It is the responsibility of the parents to check that the coaching session is covered by the necessary insurance.
